THE MADISON | One-of-One Wearable Art Handbag

For the woman who doesn’t want to see her bag on everyone else’s arm.

The Madison starts with a blank 34" × 18" piece of soft cream canvas.

Before it ever becomes a handbag, I create the art.

That canvas gives me more than four square feet of space to paint by hand. I create the rich chocolate stripes, lines, circles and brushstrokes directly onto the canvas. Nothing is digitally printed or reproduced.

Every line, stripe and brushstroke comes from my hand.

Once the artwork is complete, I take that original 34" × 18" painted canvas and begin transforming it into The Madison.

The canvas is cut, shaped and constructed into the finished handbag, then completed with The Madison's bold oversized signature bow and genuine leather handle.

Inside, The Madison is fully lined and finished with an interior pocket.

What began as a blank canvas becomes an original piece of art you can carry.

The Madison is a signature handbag style that I can create again.

I can recreate the shape. I can use the same soft cream canvas and rich chocolate color story. I can paint the stripes again and finish another Madison with its oversized signature bow.

But I cannot duplicate the artwork.

Because every stripe, line, circle and brushstroke is painted individually by hand, I can't place each detail in exactly the same position twice.

One stripe may be wider. A line may fall somewhere different. A circle may appear in another place. And once that painted canvas is cut, folded and constructed, different portions of the artwork will naturally appear across the finished handbag.

Those differences aren't mistakes.

They're what make each Madison an original.

So yes, another woman may own The Madison.

But she won't own your Madison.

I start with a blank 34" × 18" canvas. I paint it. I cut it. I shape it, and then I construct that original artwork into a handbag.

That's why I call what I create wearable art.

The handbag is functional, but the process begins the same way a painting does—with a blank canvas, paint, an idea and my hands.

The difference is that instead of hanging this canvas on your wall, you get to carry it.
